78RPM is a 16 piece big band based out of Dansville, NY and performs in Monroe, Ontario, Livingston, Wyoming, and Genesee counties. Starting out as the Happy Wanderers (an Oktoberfest band) in 1973 under the sponsorship of the Jackson Hose Fire Company with clarinetist Joseph LaBarbera directing, the group has morphed over its 40-year tenure to become a solid big band apt in many styles. 78RPM features numerous vocal numbers, great soloists, catchy dance tunes, and a dedication to a craft of the jazz orchestra.
While based primarily in the classic style of big band the group often shows their diversity by playing more modern arrangements and/or original arrangements of popular tunes. A small sampling of their repertoire includes Star Dust, Frenesi, Jump Jive and Wail, Smooth, Brown Eyed Girl, Shoo Fly Pie, Tiger of San Pedro, and many more!
78RPM has played a number of venues from dance halls to private parties to formal concerts and many park concerts to share their craft with the public. They are proud to have shared their music at the Rochester International Jazz Festival, the Center Stage Amphitheater of Perinton, and a number of the community sponsored concerts in Irondequoit, Fairport, Spencerport, Victor, Sodus, Palmyra, Geneseo, Batavia, and many more. 78RPM would like to thank all the venues and individuals who invite them to share their music and energy.
