Rochester, NY--June 28, 2017--The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival 16th Edition continues today with another amazing lineup in the clubs, free shows on four indoor and outdoor stages and the iconic Mavis Staples, who weaves herself into the very fabric of gospel, soul, folk, pop, R&B, blues, rock, and hip hop headlines at Eastman Theatre.  Tickets are still available at rochesterjazz.com, at the Ticket Shop or at the door. 

Free Youth Jazz Workshops sponsored by Wegmans continue today at 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. in Room 120 Ray Wright Room at Eastman School of Music.  No preregistration required, just show up. The free Jazz Starts at Noon series is today at the Rochester Monroe County Library at 12 noon. 

Poster artist, David Cowles will be signing posters in the Merchandise Tent from 6-8 p.m.

The festival continues through Saturday, July 1 featuring more than 1500 artists from 18 countries and more than 325 shows. It is presented in three series - the Club Pass Series with 230+ shows, the headliner series of six shows and 95 free shows and events. The festival's 19 indoor and outdoor venues all within walking distance in Rochester's East End Cultural and Entertainment District.
 
Jam sessions are nightly at the Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside starting at 10:30 p.m.

Tommy Smith, a leading light in European jazz, first and foremost as one of the finest saxophonists of his generation, led a huge turnout of young musicians at the popular Youth Workshops yesterday. Sponsored by Wegmans. Workshops continue today at 1 p.m.

Move to a Healthy Groove - Rochester Regional Health Street Teams will have ear plugs, sunglasses, rain ponchos (let's hope we don't need those) and other useful items.  Look for them walking around the fest or visit the First Aid tent on Main Street at Gibbs.
