1-2 PM - XRIJF Jazz Workshops for Young Music Students Starts Today

Ray Wright Room (Rm 120), 26 Gibbs St.

1:00-2:30 p.m. Free, sponsored by Wegmans, no registration required. Attend one or more days. Open to all grade school and high school music students. Series of five structured jazz workshops gives music students the exceptional opportunity to play and meet, listen to and learn from professional jazz musicians performing at the festival. Hosted by Bob Sneider, Eastman School Asst Professor of Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media and Sr. Instructor of Jazz Guitar.



8 PM XRIJF/Eastman Scholarship Concert is Tonight

Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre - Free, no tickets required

Pianist/composer Max Berlin and trumpeter Emanuel Burks are the recipients of this year's Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival/Eastman School of Music Scholarship and will attend Eastman this fall as freshman in the Department of Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media. The program is sponsored by XRIJF producers Marc Iacona and John Nugent. Opening the show is the Eastman Youth Jazz Orchestra, led by Eastman Community Music School Director Howard Potter. They'll be followed by the Eastman Jazz Ensemble directed by Bill Dobbins with special guest artist John Sneider, nationally recognized innovative jazz trumpet player and composer.

Club Pass Series Shows

239 shows at 13 venues. Entry is first-come, first-served cash only, no advance sales, at the door for $20 ($25 Kilbourn Hall) per show or with the Club Pass, $194 plus service charge at the Ticket Shop.
